A little bit about us

Hello! We are the sustainable florist and flower-farmer duo, Becky and Sarah Kemlo.  We are based just outside Lymington, Hampshire where we grew up. Having spent a large part of our childhood outdoors, scrambling around in the forest or along the sea wall, we are passionate about creating floral arrangements that reflect the beauty of our natural surroundings. Moreover, our aim is to do so in a way that enhances and protects our local environment.  We grow our own flowers both in our tiny but abundant back garden in London as well as in our cutting garden at the lovely Warborne Farm. There, we can also forage from the hedgerows adding an untamed element to our arrangements.

Using our own homegrown flowers is absolutely central to our work for two reasons: style and sustainability..

Style

Our arrangements echo the natural beauty of the garden-grown flowers and foraged materials from which they are created. We have found that working with garden-grown local flowers results in arrangements that are directed by the natural form of the materials used.
We are lucky enough, as growers, to watch (often with trepidation!) as our produce transform from tiny seeds into gorgeous blooming flowers, as each season brings its own delights. That’s why, in all our arrangements we seek to harness the beauty of the natural materials with which we work and maximise the spirit and scent they offer.

Sustainability

In both our farming and floristry practices we strive to limit our impact on the environment. Most of the flowers sold in the UK have been imported from abroad, so to avoid these unnecessary freight-miles, using our own homegrown produce has become central to what we do. Our growing season runs approximately from April to October and, where necessary, we supplement our own produce with that of other local or British growers. In our growing practice we try to avoid pesticides and chemical fertilisers, we compost our green waste and we use other peat-free organic composts. In our arrangements we avoid the use of single use, non-biodegradable plastics like oasis (florists foam) and use water sources and reusable mechanics instead.
